FILA President: Iranian Wrestling, Top of World Class

TEHRAN President of the International Federation of Associated Wrestling (FILA) Milan Ercegan here on Wednesday referred to Iran as top of the class of world wrestling. In an interview with IRNA, Ercegan said that Iranian planning in wrestling can serve as a model for the rest of the world. ``Iranian wrestling doesn't just belong to Iranian people and wrestlers, it rather belongs to the whole world because the Iranian wrestling style and the wrestlers sportsmanship is a model for other countries' athletes,'' Ercegan said.
Justifying the selection of Iranian wrestling Federation as the model federation over the past three years, Ercegan cited the federation's very successful planning to promote wrestling amongst the youth, and its excellent management of various world-class tournaments. The FILA president however pointed out that Iran should equip itself with modern coaching techniques in the world of wrestling. He praised Iranian wrestling fans whom he called a great support for the sport in Iran. (IRNA)
